Assessors offices

INDIANAPOLIS — Democratic lawmakers from Allen County decried the passage of legislation that moves to eliminate township assessors nine counties, including Allen and Elkhart.

On Jan. 23, House Bill 1035 passed the Indiana House of Representatives 61-37 with a majority of support coming from the legislative caucus that represents few township assessors, the Democrats said in their statement. “Indiana House Democrats believe that the decision should lie solely in the hands of those affected and that local government should remain just that — controlled locally by those impacted.”
