Aug. 5, 2020 - U.S. Rep. Jim Banks, R-3rd, who represents northeast Indiana, visited two regional steel manufacturers.

Banks was joined by House Chief Deputy Whip Drew Ferguson during visits Aug. 4 to the Structural and Rail Division of Steel Dynamics, Inc. in Columbia City and Nucor’s Metal Building Division in Waterloo.

Ferguson, a Republican who serves on the Ways and Means Committee, came from his home in western Georgia.

“We discussed trade, the Chinese Communist Party’s manipulation of the steel markets and how investing in infrastructure would be a boon to the steel industry in northeast Indiana,” Banks said in a news release.

“Indiana’s 3rd Congressional District is the fifth highest steel producing district in the nation, and I am proud to show off our hardworking steelworkers to my colleagues.”
