Abel Travis joins Brotherhood Mutual

Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Company recently announced Abel Travis as its new senior vice president affiliate operations.

In this role, Travis will be responsible for leading agency enterprises, American Church Group, LLC, and Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Services, operationally and strategically, and will be responsible for providing strategic leadership for MinistryWorks – payroll services and HR solutions.

For the past four years, Travis has served on the executive leadership team at AF Group, most recently as the vice president and head of AF Group company, Fundamental Underwriters. AF Group is a nationally recognized holding company that specializes in affiliated insurance brands providing innovative, specialty insurance solutions. The company is based in Lansing, Michigan. Previous roles with AF include head of innovation, chief underwriting officer, and vice president of underwriting and innovation. Travis also served in leadership roles at various insurance companies, including The Hanover Insurance Group, Chubb, and Travelers.

Additionally, Travis hosts an InsurTech podcast aimed at thought leaders, InsurTech innovators, influencers, and insurance executives. He also is the co-chair for the Underwriting Advisory Council for Guidewire Software and a member of the board of advisors for Digital Insurance.

Travis earned his MBA from Long Island University and a Bachelor of Science from Clarkson University. He currently serves as vice chair of Lansing Promise, dedicated to closing the education gap in mid-Michigan, and serves on the Welcoming Ministry at Trinity Church, based in Lansing, Michigan.
