The Board of Directors of Genesis Outreach, Inc. announced that Gina R. Brooks, BSN, RN, started as its new chief executive officer Feb. 1.
Brooks is the successor to Albert T. Brownlee, who had served in that capacity since 2012. Last year, Brownlee announced his resignation as of Dec. 31 due to relocation; he will remain on as a consultant throughout 2020 to assist in the transition of leadership.
Brooks most recently lived in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she was employed at Atrium Health as a hepaticopancreatobiliary-colorectal surgical oncology nurse specialist. Before that, she worked in various leadership capacities at Genesis Outreach, Inc. and most recently as director of family services overseeing its family reunification program, addiction recovery services and life skills training. A Fort Wayne native, Brooks is excited to return home and to provide leadership to the faith-based community housing development organization in its 32nd year of operations, according to an announcement.
Brooks has experience in nonprofit leadership, client relations and community housing management.
Brooks graduated magna cum laude from Purdue University and is a member of Emmanuel Apostolic Church. She is married to Carlos Jamal Brooks and together they have three children and four grandchildren.
