New tenant

Mayor Tom Henry, right, gave Caleb Young a housewarming welcome as the first tenant in the new apartments at The Landing.

For Caleb Young, an associate conductor for the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, The Landing is home sweet home.

On June 12, Young signed the lease and officially received the keys to his new studio apartment along Columbia Street. One of his first house guests was Mayor Tom Henry, congratulating him on his new home.

For $800 a month, Young will now reside in this approximately 480 square-foot space featuring polished concrete floors and a big picture window overlooking the shops and restaurants of Columbia Street. Young was particularly excited about his proximity to his workplace, the Embassy Theatre, and his even closer proximity to one of his favorite restaurants, Nawa, which is located directly across the street.

More and more tenants are expected to move in through this summer and fall, which Henry is taking as an encouraging sign that people, especially young professionals, are considering Fort Wayne a place of interest to live, work and play.
