Memorial Day service planned in New Haven
NEW HAVEN – The annual Memorial Day service will be held at 10 a.m. May 25 at Schnelker Veterans’ Memorial Park, 956 Park Ave., New Haven.
“It is important to continue this tradition of honoring our nation’s heroes this Memorial Day,” a news release from New Haven Mayor Steven S. McMichael’s office said.
The service will be open to the public, but we will be following state protocol and social distancing guidelines because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Under Gov. Eric Holcomb’s Stage 3 guidelines, the crowd must be limited to 100 people. If you choose to attend, you are encouraged to wear a face mask and to not congregate in one area. It is strongly recommended that everyone stand 6 feet apart.
To allow more community members to join the event, it will be live-streamed on the city’s Facebook page @NewHavenIN.
“It is important for us to remember the fallen heroes who bravely defended our country,” the news release said.
Government offices closed
Due to the Memorial Day holiday, all Allen County and Fort Wayne government offices will be closed May 25. Offices will reopen for business May 26.
