United Way emergency fund established

United Way of Allen County’s emergency fund seems to be rolling along.

As of March 24, the “Emergency Relief Fund has reached $300,000 with other significant contributions expected,” the agency reported.

United Way invested the first $100,000 when it publicly announced the fund March 17. The Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne has given $50,000 to the fund, which was created to deal with community needs because of COVID-19.

Since then, the United Way of Huntington County and Elkhart and LaGrange Counties have started similar funds called Huntington County Emergency Relief Fund and UnitedWayEC.org/COVID-19, respectively.
