The data folk at Zenreach have found that June saw another month of increased foot traffic and in-store visits to retail, restaurants and entertainment venues as more Americans get COVID-19 vaccines.
Zenreach analyzed the data and found that across all industries, nationwide foot traffic is up 44% since the start of 2021, a 6% increase from last month.
Some cities across the country have seen a huge increase, like San Diego, with a 173% increase since Jan. 1. In the Midwest, the Chicago-Naperville-Elgin (Wisconsin) area saw a 120.62% increase.
Meanwhile, Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater in Florida saw a -21.19% change.
“With indoor mask mandates starting to lift, Zenreach expects these numbers will continue to increase,” Megan Wintersteen, vice president of marketing for Zenreach, said in a June 7 news release. “It would not surprise me if nationwide foot traffic reaches a more than 55% lift (since Jan. 1) within the next three months.”

Beer, music AND plants?!
I had time for the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory annual spring plant swap June 5. OK, when don’t I have time for plants? Each spring the conservatory holds an event where folks sign up through Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department to bring their extra lovelies and get a turn to pick a plant that someone else brought. This year saw tons of strawberry plants, succulents, and some cockscomb and other plants that might have come from the parks department’s greenhouse.
Now it seems that 2Toms Brewing Company has gotten on the plant bandwagon. The brewery at 3676 N. Wells St., Fort Wayne, will hold its first plant party noon-4 p.m. June 12.
The Purdue Master Gardeners, the botanical conservatory and Bee Great Honey will be part of the event. Hailey Marie will play 1-3 p.m.
“There is no admission, just plant loving people wanting to gather like minded people to revel in plants and beer!”
2Toms has Full Circle Grill & BBQ operating a full-time kitchen within the brewery. Full Circle makes barbecue along with a plethora of sandwich, pizza and vegan options. 2Toms’ expansion to create a barrel room will provide a rental space for meetings or parties and add a kitchen for Full Circle Grill & BBQ.
