The Health Care Awards honor organizations and individuals in the health care field who epitomize the spirit embodied in the word "hero." Too many of these individuals and organizations never receive the recognition they deserve.

Judging and awards presentation
Each Health Care Award winner will be honored at the Health Care Awards Breakfast to be held in September, 2012, profiled in a special publication published by the Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly and will receive the distinctive Health Care Award. Honorees will come from the 16-county area of northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio served by the Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly.

Categories

• Community Achievement in Health Care: Awarded to a nonprofit organization that has done the most to champion health care within the community.
• Physician: Awarded to a physician who has demonstrated outstanding service in the health care field.
• Advancements in Health Care: Awarded to a business, organization or individual who has, as a direct result of his, her or its work, improved the practice of health care or led to a greater understanding of a particular issue within the medical field.
• Medical Professional: Awarded to a medical professional - for example, nurse, x-ray technician, hospital administrator or emergency medical technician - who has demonstrated outstanding service in health care.
• Volunteer: Awarded to an individual who volunteers his or her time to a health-care organization, service or program.
