DeKalb Memorial Hospital in Auburn has launched a medication list program designed to consolidate a person’s prescription list into a portable, easy-to-use resource that patients can carry with them.
The hospital is making medication information cards available to the public via local pharmacies and other health care providers.
One of the chief aims of the program, hospital officials said, is to prevent medical errors stemming from incomplete or outdated patient information.
The cards are now available at Kroger and Wal-Mart in Auburn, CVS stores in Auburn and Butler, and at DeKalb Memorial Hospital, DeKalb Memorial Outpatient Clinic, St. Martin’s Healthcare Clinic in Garrett, DeKalb Medical Services in Butler and DeKalb Medical Services in Garrett.
Indiana residents target of Medicare scam
A scam is targeting diabetic Medicare beneficiaries across Indiana, according to the Indiana Association of Area Agencies on Aging.
Scammers have been telephoning beneficiaries from a Florida phone number, (737) 786-9211, and claiming to be from Medicare. The callers, all of whom have foreign accents, offer diabetic testing supplies, heating pads, back braces and free blood pressure testing supplies.
They also ask for beneficiaries’ Medicare numbers and the maiden name of the patient’s parent.
IAAA officials urge beneficiaries not to release any Medicare or personal information to the scammers.
